Remote Teaching Policies

New Course Policies (updated 4/16/2020 )

Individual Communication: If you need to talk to me I suggest sending me an email with ECE 5780 in the title and also indicate your availability in the email text. I will schedule a Zoom meeting with you within the next business day (typically much sooner).

Group Meetings and Group Communication: We will have a 1 hour Zoom meeting scheduled at the same time each week; the meeting will start with a meeting agenda and a project update (one or more pages) that must be submitted to me by email prior to the meeting. The actual length of the meeting will depend upon the agenda which is set by the group. For additional times use the “Individual Communication” protocol.

Class Lectures: Class lectures will take place in the same time slots (10:10 Tuesday and Thursday). A zoom class meeting will start promptly at 10:10 with announcements. In general, lecture videos will be made available on Canvas and lecture slides will be made available in the notes section of the course website before the scheduled class time. After announcements and any in-class discussions or presentations, the class zoom meeting will end and the remainder of the class period will be used for video lectures. There will be an additional, optional zoom session from 11:10 to 11:25 to address questions arising from the video lecture class material.

Project Presentations: There are two planned group project presentations: Project Proposal and Final Presentation. Project presentations will be conducted through Zoom to the whole class in the scheduled class period (starting at 10:10 am). The suggested method of presentation is PowerPoint through the Zoom shared screen mechanism. It is recommended that when there are multiple presenters then each presenter shares their own screen when presenting. Presentations should be practiced in advance with Zoom. If there are technical issues then the presentation may be postponed. Please email me in advance if you are unable to attend a project presentation.
